My impromptu trip to Kashi Vishwanath Temple

This was one of those impromptu trip that happen only once in lifetime.

Long story cut short, my mom was in Bangalore, and she had to travel back to Allahabad for a wedding. As she was little scared to travel alone, I choose to drop her and be back in 2 days over the weekend. Trust me guys I have never done it…but it’s gonna be fun if you get a chance to bump into something like this.

This was after such a long time that I had my bags empty with just few pair of clothes and some makeup and accessories.

You might be wondering when Kashi, Banaras is going to come into picture…just wait for the secret to unravel. While I was booking my tickets for Allahabad, I start getting proposals to visit Kashi as well. I certainly felt it was my calling and without a second thought I planned for it, or I would say just go without a plan.

All I did was book Hotel for me and my mom with booking.com, A big thanks to this site, you have the flexibility to change the plan in case of any last-minute cancellation of events.

Yes, guys now a days we have so many such options, so just a hidden tip in case you are still not using it, I think it’s the best way if you are not certain of things. This gives you assurance and flexibility together without worrying too much…now how good is that!!

So let me briefly talk about how many days I had just for myself, as I was not travelling with kids and hubby, so the worry baggage was surely not there. As in what I mean here is what they will eat and what they will like and all those stuffs. You were just by yourself!!

As I am good at planning I had everything on my fingertips, I landed in Allahabad, early morning at 8:30 am and immediately booked a cab to Banaras. Trust me guys it didn’t cost me more. It was super cheap and safe. This was one of those taxi rides who operate in less cities and this was surely not Uber or ola. On the way we had a lovely breakfast at a dhabha which included – Aloo paratha with some curd. On the way we picked some fruits and that what we kept munching, no packed snacks or chips friends. Trust me for the first time I felt zero tiredness in this 5-6 hour journey because I stayed with healthy munching.

We reached Banaras by 2 pm and again and was dropped directly to our hotel. The stay was a great homely stay. You have options to eat home cooked meal at Hotel but you can always choose Swiggy or other methods.

We freshened-up and ordered a thali, that one Thali sufficed for both me and my Mom and we took some rest as we were awake from morning 3 am.

People at Banaras are super helpful and if you are with elderly parent, it is all the more, so we were guided by the hotel owners to visit the ghat and temple at night in order to avoid long queues. Luckily our Hotel was walk-able to Assi ghat, so me and my mom just took some small troll for 10 mins and we were at Assi Ghat.

The moment we reached Assi Ghat, we boarded a double decker boat to visit All ghats at Banaras. I would say this was the best thing that happened to us at 7 pm as that was the last ride for the evening. This ride will be 1 hour and it’s worth every penny. After we back at the Ghat we watched the Ganga Aarti a must when you are at Banaras. The experience is so mesmerizing and rejuvenating that you will surely have to experience this and this can’t be explained.

Post that we immediately headed for the Kashi Vishwanath Temple visit. Don’t worry it was worth the wait. We reached the temple gates at around 8:30 pm and we got the darshan at around 9:30 pm trust me this was the shortest window you can reach to Bolenath at Kashi.

We were hearing stories from people minimum 2-6 hours but not sure if God was helping me or my Mom as she has Knee issues and walking troubles that it happened for us. When we reached Gate 1 was empty and we took that gate, which was a better option I believe as compared to gate 4 but it’s mostly more crowded.

You will have to deposit your belongings to any shop on the walk to darshan. I keynote here better to this activity as soon as possible, so that while you exit from the temple, you would find the shop to collect your belongings early. We didn’t know that that time, but once we were out, we completely had no track of what shop and all, but w heads the token and some memory of the owner’s face. So, I asked my mom to sit and wait at one restaurant while I go and pick the stuff quickly.

After we collected the stuff, we moved to have our dinner followed by some special deserts at Banaras.

Next day morning as well we have Aarti at Assi Ghat, which one can choose to attend. I choose to skip it as Mom had trouble in her knees, and I didn’t want to take any risk of walking alone in the morning at 5:30 am in a new place.

Post that around 9 am we hailed back to Allahabad with a content and accomplished trip to Banaras.

Once we reached Allahabad, we also went for Sangam snan and then headed to our place in Allahabad.

Coming back to Banaras and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple I didn’t want to break the flow above so held my thoughts for this place.

I must say Banaras is a place where whenever you will go you will feel so much of inner kind of peace and contentment, that it would be unbelievable. All the chaos that you have inside you or outside would vanish.

I would say You will start feeling content – which is something we all starve for!!

The moment I landed in Kashi, the vibe was so soothing that I just wanted to live throughout my life there itself, that’s the beauty of this place!!

People would be so helpful and polite, that it’s unbelievable!!

I just fell in love with Kashi!! I certainly wished I could have spent more time at the Temple and the Ghat, but this was the maximum I had for myself because of all the hush and rush around!!

I must tell you something that I have yet not revealed this was just 2 days after Shivaratri and Maha Kumbh getting over and people really scared us saying we might not even get Darshan. But you never know what He has planned for you and then we happen to be there and meet Him – The greatest of all God – Shiva!!

I am still obliged that God made plans for me to meet Him and He made it happen!!
